In an interview with BBC Bangla Radio, Rizwan Ahmed with the NGO Forum for Public Health in Dhaka, Bangladesh, says pit latrine maintenance can be a community health problem. Rizwan says the hope is that the Forum for Public Health’s pilot program for a safe, cost-effective latrine waste management system will be used across Bangladesh and eventually spread across the developing world.
This comes after the research has just been published in the journal PLOS ONE and is receiving global media attention.
