(Colombo, 6 Jan) IWMI had a strong presence at the 8th International Perspective on Water Resources and the Environment, a three day event organized by The Environmental & Water Resources Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Several research staff participated in technical sessions, whilst Jeremy Bird gave the closing keynote address.
Urging fellow engineers to move beyond one dimensional approaches to solving development challenges, Jeremy highlighted the importance of the water-food-energy nexus approach, but cautioned delegates to avoid treating it as “dogma”. Instead it should be seen as a problem solving tool, he said, to encourage cross-sectoral cooperation.
