Before IWMI
\"Thakshila has experience working in Taiwan and Sri Lanka. She has held research and teaching positions at the Institute of Environmental Engineering of National Sun Yat-sen University (Taiwan) and at Humble Readers (Taiwan), research positions at the National Institute of Fundamental Studies (Sri Lanka), Department of Environmental and Industrial Sciences at University of Peradeniya (Sri Lanka), Gem and Jewelry Research and Training Institute (Sri Lanka), among other posts. She assisted in implementing the International Symposium on Water and Air Pollution jointly organized by NCH University (Taiwan) and PGIS, University of Peradeniya (Sri Lanka) as well as the Microplastic Symposium and the International Symposium on Human Health and Water Quality both organized by PGIS. Thakshila has served as a reviewer of multiple journals including the Journal of Polymers and the Environment – Springer, Chemical Engineering Journal – Elsevier, International Journal of Communication at the University of Southern California, USA, and the International Journal of Environment and Climate Change.\"
