Development of a framework for water quality monitoring in Africa
This project prepares the foundations for the new Pan-African Water Quality Program (PAWaQ) of the African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW). In the first two phases, the aim of the project is to carry out a situation analysis of water quality monitoring in Africa, and describe efforts to manage deteriorating water quality. In the latter three phases, the project will aim to research innovations that could advance water quality management in Africa, and will include these into the design of a new framework for monitoring and managing water quality. The key output of this project will be a new framework for PAWaQ. AMCOW plan to use this framework to expand water quality management across Africa. The key outcomes of the project will be participation of member states and improved management of water quality across Africa.
