Revitalized Irrigation Systems addresses the complex issues of improving irrigation system productivity and sustainability, taking into account wider basin considerations and looking at policy, institutions and management (from main system to farm levels), and technical aspects and solutions.
Work includes the benchmarking of irrigated systems and other innovative management tools, as well as exploring opportunities for scaling up appropriate modernization technologies.
The theme will also work on reversing land degradation in irrigated systems, with particular emphasis on bringing salinized lands back into production.
