Pakistan Water Security Diagnostic
The objective of the Pakistan Water Security Diagnostic is to prepare a comprehensive but concise national-scale water security diagnostic for Pakistan as an input to high-level political and policy discourse on long-term strategic economic planning. The work is also expected to inform the process for developing an implementation framework for the soon-to-be-approved Pakistan National Water Policy. The work will build upon the largely completed rapid assessment of water security in Pakistan (Phase I), and relevant recent and ongoing analytical work including on food security, water resources management, water supply and sanitation, and disaster risk management. In particular the work will provide an integrated economic assessment of the current and potential future costs and benefits of how water is used and managed. It will assess and describe the institutional and political constraints or barriers to improving water security, drawing on lessons emerging from ongoing inter-provincial dialogue
