Improving agricultural water productivity and beyond: What are the options
This project aims to expand upon this past research and learning, drawing from both published and unpublished IWMI materials from the mid-1990s onwards. The work will involve both a retrospective analysis of IWMI’s water productivity research, outcomes and lessons as well as a forward-looking assessment of how lessons from the past can inform and refine on-going and future water resources research and implementation. The product of this activity will be in-depth background paper that synthesizes and reviews IWMI’s past and present research on agricultural water productivity, including the evolution of the concept of water productivity, its application and related lessons learned. Building on this experience, the paper will also suggest possible ways forward to further advance the concept and its application. The paper will be accompanied by a bibliography of IWMI publications and reports related to the topic of water productivity.
