Agroecological transitions for building resilient and inclusive agricultural and food systems (TRANSITIONS)
This project will accelerate and coordinate work on agroecology across international, national and local scales to foster transitions to more sustainable agricultural and food systems. The initiative is positioned as a demand-driven and impact-oriented response in an increasing number of geographies where a wide range of public and private actors have prioritized agroecology, but still face key knowledge and implementation gaps for upscaling. The project aims to identify and leverage key elements of efficient incentive models that contribute to multifunctional outcomes of agroecological approaches, empower low-income farmers and consumers in climate vulnerable settings, and provide sustainable business incentives. To ensure relevance for and uptake by the private sector, from the start, activities will be developed in close collaboration with policy makers and private sector stakeholders, facilitated through the Transformative Partnership Platform for agroecology (TPP) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).
