Analysis of the impacts of flooding in the Awash Basin, Ethiopia, in 2020
The Awash Basin in Ethiopia is prone to frequent drought and flood events. In 2020, the basin experienced an exceptionally wet season with heavy rainfall which caused flooding that resulted in the massive destruction of properties and displacement of people. This project will assess the impacts of these floods on different water users in the sub-basins. The aim is to determine how future management practices could adapt to, and/or mitigate the risks of, flooding impacts through adaptive management approaches. This project is a component of the REACH Program, managed by Oxford University, UK, and funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
