Raising the WLE profile through strategic outputs
To support urban farming, its environment, and rural-urban linkages (RUL), this small project of the CGIAR’s Water, Land and Ecosystems (WLE) RUL flagship is supporting the development of distinct outputs in support of strategic partnerships, including the new UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and International Water Management Institute (IWMI) water quality guidelines. These build on, update, and combine two older FAO guidelines (FAO Irrigation and Drainage Paper 29 and 47) and will be published by FAO in 2022. The second and third outputs are two reports for the Commission on Sustainable Agricultural Intensification (CoSAI) on urban and peri-urban farming and controlled environment agriculture. Both CoSAI reports are looking at investment opportunities and will be accompanied by policy brief. The project is also supporting RUL blogs, synthesis briefs, a resource recovery and reuse scaling analysis, and diverse journal papers.
