Advisory services for the development and implementation of irrigated agriculture

The objective of this assignment is to provide support to the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) in development, due diligence and implementation of its programs in Lesotho and other MCC-eligible countries by providing analytical support and evidence-based recommendations. In the context of MCC’s Compacts, under Task A, IWMI will assist MCC in developing irrigation activities including agricultural water management, policy and government in Lesotho and Zambia. This task will include an assessment of groundwater governance mechanisms and potential incentives to respond to urgent groundwater challenges in the selected regions. For Task B, IWMI will provide assessments and recommendations for sustainability of water user associations, including social and gender dimensions as well as alternative development scenarios for MCC interventions in selection countries. Under Task C, IWMI will provide MCC with best practices for economic valuation of irrigation and water programming in multiple countries.
