UN 2023 Water Conference: 46 years after Mar del Plata, it’s time to examine the successes and failures

Alan Nicol commented on the effect of atmospheric carbon on water systems.

The conference highlighted water resource interdependence and called for more coordinated water management.

While speaking at a seminar from the Institute of Development Studies, IWMI researcher Alan Nicol said, “We now live in a more dangerous, unpredictable world. Since 1977, atmospheric carbon has increased by more than 30 percent, disrupting water systems.”
