CGIAR Science Week 2024 postponed

Event to be rescheduled for later in the year.

The inaugural CGIAR Science Week has been postponed. The much-anticipated event, scheduled for July 1–5, 2024, in Nairobi, Kenya, was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.

In an official communique, CGIAR explained the rationale behind this decision and the steps forward.

In consultation with our co-host, KALRO, we have taken the decision to postpone CGIAR Science Week. This is due to unforeseen circumstances. This is not a decision taken lightly. We deeply regret any inconvenience caused to delegates and to colleagues who were still intending to join. Thank you for your patience while we consulted and decided on this matter.

Please do not make plans to go to the UN campus. The badge collection has now closed, and site visits and exhibition set-ups have also been cancelled.

Looking ahead, we can confirm that the rescheduled event will take place at the same venue – the UN Campus – in Nairobi, co-hosted by KALRO. We are working quickly to confirm a new date and will advise on this as soon as possible. More information will be available on the website soon. We are committed to making this important event for agrifoods science and innovation a great success, with your continued and valued support.

The CGIAR team and our service provider TAG Events is standing by to respond to any questions you have (Agency hotline +254 721 466 009). Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Over 3,000 participants were registered to attend the event in person, with many more registered online.

The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) delegation of 32 experts and researchers were scheduled to take part in over 20 events at CGIAR Science Week, including side events, plenary sessions, parallel programs and exhibition demonstrations.

For more information, and updates on the new dates, check the CGIAR Science Week page.
