Future outlook
With increasing water demand and inadequate existing capacity, the investment requirements for the sector are huge. The bulk of these investments are expected to come in the form of budgetary and plan allocations of the central and state governments through various schemes.
- DJB to set up 100 RO plants: Setting up 100 more reverse osmosis plants across the city
- Rs. 2037 crores provided for Integrated Ganga Conservation Mission “NAMAMI GANGE”.
- Rs.500 crore for water reform to make Delhi a truly World class city.
The private sector needs to play an important role in improving efficiency in operations and bringing in technical and professional expertise in handling infrastructure facilities.
Overall, the water supply and wastewater sector has a positive outlook and offers huge opportunities. Greater focus will be laid on development of public private partnership projects.
