IUCN World Conservation Congress – Agriculture as a Force for Conservation: Innovations for and from the Global South

Agriculture is a primary cause of biodiversity loss, but is challenged to deliver enough nutritious food for all. We can turn this around with the right policies, technologies and incentives. A major 24-month global Review on Sustainable Agricultural Intensification (SAI) aims to provide practical guidance, case studies and evidence for policy-makers, investors and implementers on how to deliver this sustainable food future. This session will profile initial solutions, seeking feedback from Congress experts on how the solutions can better reach conservation goals. Participants may also share case studies that might be incorporated into the Review or spark collaboration among other participants. This participatory session will spark collaborations, build understanding of SAI/conservation solutions and challenges, and improve Review case studies and recommendations. Participants may also gain a role within the Review to build and improve its evidence and outputs.
