WLE and the UN Food Systems Summit

WLE and the UN Food Systems Summit

WLE has been making significant contributions to the preparatory processes of the United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS). Since 2020 we have been coordinating UNFSS Action Track 3 (Nature positive production), contributing to Action Track 5 (Building resilience to vulnerabilities, shocks and stresses) and organizing and participating in UNFSS Global and Independent Summit Dialogues. CoSAI has also contributed evidence to the Summit’s cross-cutting ‘Lever of Change’ on innovation. Our close involvement has provided opportunities to promote WLE’s know-how and solutions to highly influential audiences.

IS WATER OVERLOOKED IN FOOD SYSTEMS?

There is an urgent need to acknowledge that without water security, there is no food security. In the context of the UN Food Systems Summit, WLE's Program Directors share their perspectives in this video.

ACTION TRACKS

The Summit’s Action Tracks bring together stakeholders from a wide range of backgrounds to share and learn, helping to foster new actions and partnerships and amplify existing initiatives. The Action Tracks are aligned with the Summit’s five objectives.

Action Track 3

Boost nature-positive production

Action Track 5

Building resilience to vulnerabilities, shocks and stresses

SOLUTION CLUSTERS AND LEVERS OF CHANGE

WLE is co-chair of the Land-Freshwater Nexus Solution Cluster which promotes integrated land and water resources management in food systems. We also contribute to the Innovation and Finance Levers of Change.

GLOBAL AND INDEPENDENT DIALOGUES

By organizing, facilitating and participating in Summit Dialogues, WLE is helping to bring political attention to food systems in high-level thematic and sectoral meetings and processes.

SCIENCE DAYS

Recognizing the pivotal role of science, technology and innovation for food systems transformation, Science Days support the UNFSS agenda-setting process with scientific evidence and perspectives.
