Mieke Bourne

Mieke Bourne is an engagement process specialist for science, practice and policy at World Agroforestry. She is a co-developer of the Stakeholder Approach to Risk-informed and Evidence-based Decision-making (SHARED). She has over 13 years of experience working on natural resource management, community based approaches and facilitation.

Mieke has worked in the global tropics with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa for the past nine years and has extensive experience in policy engagement and processes to enhance use of evidence for better decision making in the agricultural and environment sectors. Prior to joining ICRAF in 2012, she worked with the Western Australian State Government and Landcare groups working on participatory estuary and catchment management and river ecology projects. Mieke has a Masters of Rural Science researching agricultural advisory services and a Bachelor and Honors in Environmental Science. Additionally, she has research interests in grassroots institutions, stakeholder engagement, social networks, gender and decision making processes with evidence.
