Loes Schenk-Sandbergen is an associate professor of sociology and anthropology at the University of Amsterdam. She has since 1971 worked as a sociologist, gender expert and independent consultant in Asia (China, India, Laos, Vietnam, Bangladesh) for various development cooperation projects. Her areas of expertise include poverty reduction, role of women in water users organizations, social forestry, drinking water and sanitation, income generation for women, micro credit, raising gender awareness and land rights for women.
