Photos from the field: working together for a better Kachin landscape

Filmmaker Douglas Varchol visited the WLE Greater Mekong project, Working together for a better Kachin Landscape, which is led by Dr. Oliver Springate-Baginski of the University of East Anglia in partnership with Friends of Wildlife, IUCN Myanmar, the Shalom Foundation, and the London School of Economics and Political Science. This project is looking at ways of holistically managing and governing the Upper Ayeyarwady River Basin, which as historically been an area of conflict and competition for resources. The goal is to protect the diverse livelihoods and ecosystem services of the region by considering the needs of the entire landscape.
