The online Latin-American Soil Information System makes available soil profile data and soil maps at 1:1M scale for 19 countries in Latin America.

The system’s soil database may help inform decisions on land use planning, helping to ensure sustainable intensification of agricultural production, eliminating land degradation and making agriculture climate smart. It can be used to guide the sustainable use and management of land, thus contributing to ongoing efforts to improve food security, adapt to climate change, protect the provision of ecosystem services and reduce poverty.
