Nice piece, Abby! Attracting youth in agriculture? To me it all holds in the hands of current enthusiastic young professionals already working in agriculture.
Can you feel the energy of the AASW6 social reporters? YPARD Community - who got massively involved in the AASW6 SR - is animated by the same flame!
We are a network of Young professionals in agriculture who share information and connect with each other. Most importantly, we - as a community of YPs in ag - get involved in policy debates, for not only addressing our needs but also bringing solutions that we see for ourselves.
Ultimately, by promoting Social Media as a mean to share information and interact with others, and agro-preneurship as a way to create opportunities and fight against unemployment, we also make agriculture cool and trendy!
I am stunned when people tell me that young people are not interested in agriculture! YPARD grows every single day, with more than 5000 members as of today. The best way to promote agriculture is to get all stakeholders to listen to these enthusiastic people, support them and create an environment that enables them to realize their full potential! Then, others will come in!
