Partners

There is no single solution to facing today’s development challenges, nor can it be done by a single organization. The CGIAR Research Program on Water, Land and Ecosystems (WLE) recognizes this and works together with a range of partners to generate evidence, engage multiple sectors to contribute to and influence decision-making and shifting mindsets in how people view agricultural development and the environment.

The program is comprised of 12 core partners and led by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI). In total, WLE works with over 800 partners through almost 130 projects activities. Partners range from traditional ones such as National Agricultural Research and Extension Systems (NARES) and Agricultural Research Institutes (ARIs), to strong international and local environmental Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). WLE is also forging new types of partnerships with the private sector, insurance re-suppliers, water and landscape level boards and financers.

To best make use of the wide range of skills and capacities within our network, we have designed a strategy to engage our partners according to their specific skills and reach, and their proximity to communities and issues on the ground.
