International water and wetlands governance and policy expert with a combined practical and academic background; fluent in several languages and over 14 years of experience dealing with water and natural resources management and development issues, including: water and wetlands (both at the national and transboundary level), sustainable management and development, climate change adaptation and mitigation, as well as biodiversity conservation
Dr. Sanchez worked for GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH) as an Advisor for Transboundary Wetland Management in the Nile Basin until 09/2022. Previously, he worked with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) for 10+ years on projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in International Water Law from the University of Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom and an M.Sc in Environmental Governance from the University of Freiburg in Germany.
