Hammad worked as an Assistant Professor of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing for the Institute of Space Technology, Islamabad, Pakistan. He did a postdoc at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA. For around 7 years, Hammad was affiliated with the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD). Prior to working with ICIMOD, he was part of the World Wide Fund for Nature-Pakistan (WWF-Pakistan).
