Senior Regional Researcher - Hydrogeology and Water Resources
Hydraulic engineering, hydroinformatics, hydrogeology and water resources, groundwater assessment and modelling, conjunctive management of surface water and groundwater resources, groundwater-surface water interactions, hydrological modelling, integrated surface water and groundwater modelling, managed aquifer recharge assessment and suitability mapping, environmental flow assessment, climate change impact modelling and scenario assessment, groundwater monitoring network design, transboundary diagnostic assessment, and design of small-scale irrigation structures
Girma has previously worked as a design engineer at the Irrigation Authority of the Southern Region, Hawassa, Ethiopia, and as a lecturer at Hawassa University, Ethiopia. As a design engineer, he was actively involved in reconnaissance and feasibility study, and the design of small-scale irrigation projects. As a lecturer, Girma lectured for regular courses in engineering mechanics, hydraulic and irrigation structures, hydraulics, surveying, groundwater hydrology, and advanced topics in water resources engineering, and served as an adviser on research projects. He also served as a member of the engineering panel at Hawassa University, Ethiopia.
