IWMI in the news

The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) played a crucial role in addressing climate-induced challenges to food and water security in Pakistan. They organized a workshop under the UKaid-funded Water Resource Accountability in Pakistan (WRAP) Program to promote Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in Okara district. Through this workshop, IWMI aimed to equip professionals and officials with IWRM skills to enhance water allocation practices. Dr. Jehanzeb Masud Cheema highlighted the importance of the WRAP program in mitigating climate change impacts, while Engr. Saeed Ullah Alvi emphasized the need for technology sharing to combat water insecurity. Dr. Abdur Rehman Cheema stressed the significance of the Punjab Water Act 2019 in improving water governance. Hafsa Aeman emphasized decision-making based on scientific data, and Kanwal Waqar highlighted Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) in water management. Mubashir Ali underscored the importance of the Integrated Water Resources Management approach for climate resilience in Pakistan.
