Tsunami Disaster Relief Maps

MapAction - a UK based NGO, set up a situation mapping cell at the Centre for National Operations on 28 December, 2004. The IWMI remote sensing and GIS group assisted them with 24-hour staffing for map production and analysis. The Survey Department of Sri Lanka has taken over the role after MapAction phased out on 19 January 2005. IWMI continues to support the Survey Department by making daily updated maps and other resources available via the IWMI-DSP website, both as simple maps and GIS data.
