Dr. Colin Chartres, IWMI's Director General  has been invited to address the Economic and Finance Committee of the UN General Assembly on 6th November 2009. This is at a special event on "Enhancing Governance on Water". During this event, experts will discuss some of the key issues on the global water agenda, such as how to cooperate over transboundary water resources, strengthen the response to climate change through smart water management and reduce the impacts of water related disasters. Discussants will focus on how to avert a global water crisis and how to design sound policies that enable a truly integrated - across economic, environmental and social considerations - approach to water management.
