Flexitime
IWMI’s flexitime policy allows staff members to work according to a time schedule that fits with personal commitments as well as IWMI’s requirements. Staff need to work the required 8 hours per day and should be in office during core time which is 10 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
Working From-Home
In special circumstances, a staff member may obtain permission to work from home. Permission is also given to work from a location that is not the home base after consulting with the supervisor.

School Facilities
The Overseas School of Colombo (OSC) is an international school offering both primary and secondary education, and is located within close proximity to IWMI headquarters. OSC has highly qualified, globally recruited teachers and a well-equipped campus with up-to-date facilities. The school prepares senior students for the International Baccalaureate (IB) exams.
Capacity Building
IWMI’s capacity building program promotes a network-based approach to collaborative research while expanding the role of researchers from developing countries in our research efforts. We have Ph.D. Scholarship and Post Doctoral Fellowship Programs.
Career Development
Currently IWMI invests 2 percent of its overall budget on training. IWMI’s learning culture fosters both personal and professional development. IWMI encourages employees to constantly challenge the ‘status quo’ for the betterment of the organization.
Performance-Based Incentives
IWMI links strategic and operational objectives to annual performance planning. Employee progress is reviewed periodically with a structured review of performance and achievement carried out at the end of the year which is linked to a reward system.
