USMAN KHALID AWAN

Researcher ‎- ‎Water ‎ Management‎/‎Hydrology

Dr. Usman Khalid Awan is an Agricultural Engineer with specialization in integrated water resources management using satellite remote sensing data and hydrological models. Dr. Awan finished his PhD from Bonn University in Germany under the HEC-DAAD scholarship program and worked as a PhD scholar in the ZEF/UNESCO Khorezm project in Central Asia. Dr. Awan is well versed with agricultural water management, surface and ground water hydrology and water and salt balance estimations at field, farm and basin scales. He has also done substantial work on the estimation of actual and potential evapotranspiration using remote sensing and GIS applications. Dr. Awan has experience of working in different parts of the world i.e. Pakistan, Australia, Central Asia and Germany. Prior to joining IWMI, he was serving as Assistant Professor in the Irrigation Department of the University of Agricuture, Faislabad, Pakistan.
