Marie-Charlotte Buisson holds a PhD in Economics. She carried out her studies at the CERDI (Studies and Research Centre on International Development) in France. The topic of her thesis was “Rural household’s vulnerability in developing countries”, she focused on various subjects as conflicts and property rights, income generating activities and gender or access to energy in rural areas. Most of her research tries to enlighten the decision making process at the micro level in order to understand how vulnerability may be alleviate.
Along with her research, Marie-Charlotte has conducted several impact evaluations and socio-economic surveys in Angola, Senegal or Chad. These experiences as consultant (World Bank, Gates Foundation/UNDP, UNHCR/CARE International) gave her a deep understanding of the technical as well as practical challenges in data collection and especially in designing impact evaluations.
Marie-Charlotte joined IWMI, New-Delhi office, in June 2012 as a post-doctoral fellow, specialized in quantitative impact evaluation. She is now engaged in a community water management research project as well as in impact evaluations related to water policies and access. |
