Remote sensing specialist and spatial analyst, with a PhD is remote sensing algorithm development from University College London. Specializes in the use of Earth Observation technologies and Geographic Information Systems for sustainable development, improved natural resource management and poverty reduction in Africa. Research at IWMI has focused on the use of these technologies for improved understanding and management of wetland ecosystems. As a member of the International Science Team set up to support the Japanese Space Agency's Kyoto and Carbon Initiative, areas of research also include the development of new, innovative methods and the analysis of cutting edge remote sensing data acquired by the latest Japanese earth observation satellite (ALOS PALSAR).
