Lal Muthuwatta, a senior research officer attached to the International Water Management Institute has 10 years of experience in the field of GIS and 6 years in the field of remote sensing. In IWMI he was mainly involved with the research related to the health and environment theme and technical supervision of the GIS staff. Prior to joining with IWMI he served as a research assistant at the department of Engineering mathematics, Open University of Sri Lanka and the Malaria Research Unit, Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo since 1993 and completed his M.Phil in 1998. The area of the study was mathematical modelling of malaria disease transmission, which includes heterogeneous aspects of malaria disease transmission in endemic communities. He has served as visiting lecturer to the faculty of Agriculture, Ruhuna University and to the division of Engineering Mathematics, Open University of Sri Lanka. Lal is currently following a masters course on environmental systems analysis and management, at the International Institute for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation, The Netherlands |
