KAI WEGERICH

IWMI Central Asia

Kai Wegerich is a social scientist with research experiences on the organizational changes of the water bureaucracy, water management reforms on the local, meso and basin level as well as land reforms in Central Asia. Kai conducted fieldwork in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan. On these topics he published in various journals. Kai gained his PhD from the School of Oriental and African Studies/London University. He worked as a researcher for the Centre for Development Research (ZEF in Bonn/German), as a development worker for the German Development Service (DED) in Khorezm/Uzbekistan and as Assistant Professor at the Irrigation and Water Engineering Group of Wageningen University.
