JUSIPBEK KAZBEKOV

Jusipbek Kazbekov has 10 years of academic and research experience. He has gained his experience while studying and working at the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Melioration. After his graduation of TIIM in 1995 he worked in the Water Resources and Environmental Engineering (WREE) Department of TIIM as research assistant. In 1997-1998, he started his academic practice as Teaching Assistant at the WREE-TIIM on Integrated Use and Protection of Water Resources and Rural Water Supply subjects. In 1997 he participated in the 17th International Postgraduate Course on "Exploration and Management of Groundwater Resources" that was held in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. In 1998 Jusipbek Kazbekov has been offered the fellowship to participate in the Masters Program in "Groundwater Hydrology” with the International Institute for Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering (IHE), Delft by the Netherlands Fellowship Program and at the same time he has obtained the governmental grant of "UMID" the Presidential Scholarship Program of Uzbekistan for Talented Youth to Study Abroad in "Environment and Water Resources Management”. By the support of UMID program, in 2001, he obtained the MSc Degree from Colorado State University on Watershed Science where he defended the dissertation titled Tamarack Recharge Project Chemistry and Hydrogeology on the South Platte River, Colorado, where he used GIS methods to model the groundwater flow. From 2001 he worked as a Teaching Assistant in the Hydraulics Department of TIIM. In 2002, Jusipbek Kazbekov was appointed as the Director of Hydroinformatics and Water Resources Training Center that was established in collaboration with USAID’s Natural Resources Management Project and the TIIM. In 2004, he was appointed as a Director of Water Resources Information Analytical Service of TIIM. In the period of 2001 and 2005 he was a consultant for IWMI’s Water Resources in Agriculture Comprehensive Assessment Program - Big Cities Water Supply and Use of Waste Water Project (2005) and Research Officer (Consultancy) for IWMI in the Project on Improved Land and Water Management in Communities from Uzbekistan, Central Asia: Characterization and Evaluation of Key Elements Associated with the Development and Sustaining of ‘Bright’ Spots (2002), which has resulted in co-authoring in IWMI’s Research Report 88 with Andrew Noble and Mehmood ul Hassan. He was a researcher in the International Association for the Promotion of Cooperation with Scientists from the New Independent States of the Former Soviet Union (INTAS) Project 00-1003 titled as Study of the Subsurface Water Role in Water Resources of the Aral Sea Region: Ecological Policy, Assesment and Prediction (2002-2004). In 2005 he defended the Ph.D. (Candidate of Science) Dissertation on Prediction of Groundwater Pollution in Hydraulic Relation to Surface Water (Chirchik River Valley) at the TIIM.
