Dr. Junna has 30 years of experience in modeling and application of a variety of systems engineering (optimization, optimal control, and artificial neural networks) techniques to a variety of design and operation problems in irrigation. His work in the area of optimal design of irrigation systems and optimal regulation of irrigation canals is known around the world. Before joining IWMI, Dr. Reddy was a professor of irrigation, hydraulics and water resources engineering at the University of Wyoming (25 years), and a research assistant professor at Colorado State University (for 5 years). Dr. Reddy routinely taught several different courses in the field of irrigation, hydraulics, and water resources engineering. His areas of expertise are: design and optimization of sprinkle, trickle and surface irrigation systems, evaluation of pumping plants, automatic regulation of irrigation canals, optimal allocation of water resources, irrigation scheduling, and optimal operation of reservoirs for irrigation and hydropower generation. His irrigation experience covers the following countries: Belgium, Romania, Georgia, Moldova, India, USA, Sri Lanka, El Salvador, France, Greece, Turkey, Mexico, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan. |
