| As a communicator, Dawn has wide experience in the fields of advertising, business development and public relations. She holds a B.A. from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, having majored in English. She also holds a diploma in French from the Alliance Francaise – Ecole de Langue, Paris. Early in her career she worked in the information section of an FAO/ UNDP Bay of Bengal Fisheries Program. She has handled a number of freelance assignments for FAO as well. Dawn is also a writer. She worked for international advertising agencies like J. Walter Thompson and Bates (Asia) where she implemented advertising campaigns for key global clients such as Nestle, UNICEF, UniLevers, DHL and 3M as well as for several Sri Lankan companies. She moved on to become Business Manager of FM 99 / Capital Radio where she was instrumental in setting up and developing the business unit. Dawn has worked for Rowland PR as a senior PR consultant specializing in issues management, corporate communications and media publicity for a range of local and international companies. Prior to joining IWMI in 2002, she was the Deputy Head of Rowland PR overseeing the activities of the PR team and training newcomers. Dawn writes for the Lanka Monthly Digest, (LMD) one of Sri Lanka’s leading business magazines, and has been doing so from 1996. |
