Chandana Gangodagamage has 5 years experience as an Engineer and Research officer in GIS, Remote Sensing and natural resources management in projects for water resource, integration of Remote sensing and GIS techniques in Hydrological modelling and near shore wave climate and coastal process. He has gained this experience in projects in Sri Lanka and India. In 1997 he was appointed as a CAD and GIS engineer in East West Information Ltd., at IBM, Microsoft and Autodesk Solution Centre. There he was involved in providing the IT solution for Natural Resource management and utility area based on CAD, GIS and RS techniques. He joined with Indian Institute of Remote sensing in 1999 and worked as Research office capacity and apply the remote sensing and GIS techniques for Hydrological modelling at some of the Indian watersheds. In year 2000 he was appointed as a Research Engineer at Arthur C Clarke Centre for modern Technologies. There he was involved in application of Remotely sensed wind data from NSCAT ADEOS 1 satellite to predict the near shore wave climate and coastal processes. This Project was carried out in Unix IRIX 6.5 platform. Mealtime he worked as a consultant for National water supply and drainage board for modelling the ground water tube well project in Monaragala.
Chandana Gangodagamage was appointed as a Research officer/Remote Sensing Specialist of the International Water Management Institute, a CGIAR-supported research institute headquartered in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and effective from September 2001.
