Post-Doctoral Fellowships
Conditions of employment
Ideally, applicants for Post-Doctoral positions will be below 35 years of age, holding a recent PhD in an area relevant to current IWMI research. 1 to 2 years of post qualification research will be desirable, though not essential. (Applications from those who have already worked as Post-Doctoral Fellows at IWMI will not be considered). Fellowships are awarded for a maximum of two years, with no further extensions. All Post-Doctoral Fellows are subject to IWMI's personnel policies for Internationally and Regionally Recruited Staff, regardless of the country to which they are posted.
Benefits
Post Doctoral Fellows who are posted outside their home base/country of nationality are paid a Housing, Utilities & Transport allowance in addition to their salary. In Sri Lanka, all salaries are free of tax. All Post-Doc Fellows are covered by an insurance package which comprises of life, accidental death and dismemberment, hospital and major medical, long term disability and travel accident insurance.
An interest free loan is provided for vehicle purchase and education assistance of up to 3 children between kindergarten and grade 12 in secondary school. Again, this will not apply to staff posted to their recognized home base/country of nationality. The annual leave entitlement is 24 days per annum. Post-Docs are also entitled to one round trip economy class travel by the most direct route, for staff member and each authorized dependent, between duty station and the staff member’s home base for home leave, if posted to a duty station outside the recognized home base.
IWMI also encourages staff development by providing support for membership to professional organizations directly related to the discipline of the Post-Doctoral Fellow.
