Today is the UN’s World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought. This year’s theme is Land Belongs to the Future – Let’s Climate Proof it. To mark the occasion, here’s a photo essay from Uzbekistan where the loss of the Aral Sea is affecting local climates and livelihoods, and some of the work underway to restore degraded land.
